Off Road Bikes and Pork Pies

Posted on: 21st February 2017

A ride-out for the “new” to off road bikes had only one thing missing … the new riders!

Pork Pie Mike laid on an impromptu ride to the Cotswolds. Originally intended for a couple of Mike’s old chums that hadn’t ridden in a long while.  Things didn’t quite work out for the two riders which meant they didn’t make it to the rendezvous point in the early morning mist of Saturday.

However, as it is said “one man’s loss is another man’s gain”.  Which meant 3 not-so-rusty riders in the form of Pooly, Scuba Steve (for reasons that are apparent in the vid) and Turtle gate-crashed Mike’s intended sedate ride-out.

At the halfway point, while recouping the calories lost at the sit-down burger fest cafe. A casual discarded comment from Steve gave rise to a new description for the dirt bike rider, ‘Ruffty Tuffty‘.

Well, here’s to the Ruffty Tuffty Chapter then.  Great company, nice pace, absolutely no drama’s at all, whatsoever [not!].  No bikes were harmed in the making of this video.

Highlights

  • Free labour hand for local farmer … complete with the obligatory 3 supervisors to ‘help’ manage things
  • Mileage – ground covered in the time was pretty staggering
  • Scuba Steve’s pulled pork burger
  • Scuba Steve’s scuba exploits
  • Long Man’s erection of a wind turbine
